Understand folder permissions

Workspace membership and folder grants control access.

Workspace and folder

Workspace is the tenant and governance boundary. Folder is the resource access boundary below it. Documents, files, data and other resources are placed in folders rather than a parallel team or project permission system.

Grants

Folder grants define permitted capabilities for workspace members. An item-specific grant can narrow that access but cannot widen the folder permission. An administrator role is governance authority and should not be treated as a blanket grant to every private resource.

Request access

Ask the appropriate folder administrator to review your membership and grants. Never move confidential content to a public folder just to bypass an access error. Agents and scheduled work must also satisfy live authorization checks.
